Removable dentures are a solution to replace missing teeth. They may be placed in a jaw where some teeth remain, or fully replace all the teeth in an arch. They are either an interim treatment in preparation for bridging or implants, or can be the final treatment itself. Removable dentures are fabricated from various base materials – acrylic, cobalt chromium or flexible plastic with acrylic teeth attached.
A well fitted removable denture can be quite comfortable and allows teeth to be replaced in a non-surgical and cost effective manner. Where there has been considerable resorption (shrinkage) of the jaw shape, they can also help to replace what has been lost. This provides support to the facial tissues, and can provide renewed confidence in the patient.
Fabrication of dentures involves several visits over a period of about one month. Initial and further detailed impressions are taken, along with measurements of jaw relationship and tooth shading. Our lab will fabricate a trial version in wax based on our dentist’s design and prescription. At the trial stage occlusion, appearance and fit are all checked and changes can be made if needed. When the final denture is issued we will check for occlusion, fit and appearance again. Some adjustment can still be made at this stage.
When both you and our dentist are satisfied, you will be given information as to the care and usage of your denture.
We will continue to review you frequently as it can take a week or two to become accustomed to your new denture, and further adjustments may be needed along the way. Over time, as the underlying bone and gum shrinks, you may need to reline or even remake your denture. TEETH @ Tiong Bahru will be here for you every step of the way.
Fees for dentures will vary depending on design and material choice. We encourage you to meet with our dentist for a consultation, and discussion of your particular needs and treatment costs.

Crowns & Bridges
Crowns are a great solution for teeth that have been broken, or weakened by large fillings, or fractures; and, ridges are a method of replacing a missing tooth by using the adjacent teeth to provide the support.
Inlays & Onlays
Inlays and onlays are fabricated in the lab. Inlays act as stronger, more durable versions of fillings, especially when restoring particularly large cavities. Onlays are a way to protect the occlusal surface of a tooth in situations where a full crown is not necessary.

Tooth Surface Loss / Bruxism
Tooth surface loss (TSL) can occur due to acid erosion of teeth, abrasion from hard substances – nuts, ice, or aggressive toothbrushing, and attrition-the wear caused by parafunctional tooth contact.
