Removable Dentures

Having a full set of teeth is important for your overall health and wellbeing. Missing teeth can affect how you chew, speak and smile. If you are missing one or more teeth, removable dentures may be an option.

TEETH @ Tiong Bahru provides restorative dentistry treatments and dentures in Singapore for people of all ages. Dentures for missing teeth can be used to replace either part or all of your natural teeth in your mouth. In addition to improving your oral health, dentures help improve your ability to properly chew, restore proper speech, and may also give a boost to your self-esteem.

Removable dentures are fabricated from various base materials such as acrylic, cobalt chromium or flexible plastic with acrylic teeth attached. They may be placed in a jaw where some teeth remain, or fully replace a complete set of teeth in an arch. They are either an interim treatment before bridging or implants can be the final treatment itself.

What Are the Benefits of Wearing Dentures?

Dental dentures improve the appearance of a smile when several teeth are missing. And the best thing about dentures – they allow you to eat the foods that you love without having to change your diet.

Removable dentures are a great option for people with missing teeth. Well-fitted dentures can be quite comfortable. A cost-effective solution to replace teeth non-surgically, removable dentures are used to replace teeth that cause significant pain and oral health problems, such as those with rotting roots or extensive damage.

Dentures are often used in place of other types of dental bridges when the mouth has gaps or when an entire arch is gone. They replace some of the natural tooth structure and attach directly into these empty spaces. Dentures support the jaws around the cheeks and lips, keeping the mouth structure sound especially in cases of facial tissue resorption and shrinkage.

Dental Denture Treatment Process

Fabrication of a set of dentures involves several visits to the dentist over a period of about one month. Initial mouth impressions are taken, along with measurements of jaw relation and tooth shading. The dental laboratory will fabricate a trial wax-based version based upon the dentist’s design and prescription. At the trial stage occlusion or contact between the teeth, appearance and fit are all checked and changes are made, as needed.

When your final dentures are received from the laboratory, your dentist will check again the occlusion and appearance and to make sure your dentures fit comfortably. Some adjustment may be made at this stage. When both you and your dentist are satisfied, you will be given information as to the care and usage of your dentures. Instructions may include removing your dentures before going to bed to avoid damaging them, dislodging them, and giving your gums a chance to relax.

Follow-ups over a week or two will continue till you become accustomed to your new removable dentures. Further adjustments may be required during this period. Over time, as the underlying bone and gum shrinks, you may need to reline, or perhaps even remake your denture. TEETH @ Tiong Bahru will be here for your denture services every step of the way.

Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are a great solution for teeth that have been broken, or weakened by large fillings, or fractures; and, ridges are a method of replacing a missing tooth by using the adjacent teeth to provide the support.

Inlays & Onlays

Inlays and onlays are fabricated in the lab. Inlays act as stronger, more durable versions of fillings, especially when restoring particularly large cavities. Onlays are a way to protect the occlusal surface of a tooth in situations where a full crown is not necessary.
