A visit for dental maintenance doesn’t have to be a traumatic experience, and it doesn’t have to be a place that you avoid until there’s a painful toothache.

One of our missions here at TEETH @ Tiong Bahru Dental Clinic is to help  ensure every patient has a positive experience. Our team will take care of everything from start to finish so that patients feel relaxed and are comfortable throughout their entire oral health maintenance appointment.

Routine dental maintenance is normally sufficient for most people to maintain their oral health to prevent tooth decay and gum disease. In addition to the dental check-up, the appointment with our family dentist also involves scaling & polishing, fluoride treatment, and sometimes special tests depending on your specific needs. We believe in personalised treatment plans tailored specifically for each patient’s needs. This means more effective results without unnecessary pain or discomfort.

Benefits of Regular Dental Maintenance

Is it just an old adage that you should visit your dentist once every 6 months? Is it really necessary to come that often to a dentist in Singapore? Making frequent visits to general dentists for cleanings and dental check-ups is a crucial aspect of keeping your teeth healthy. But the greatest benefit of getting a routine maintenance treatment and dental check-up is peace of mind.

Our routine dental maintenance includes scaling and polishing to remove the bacterial biofilm (plaque) and calculus that builds up on everyone’s teeth. A regular teeth cleaning helps to maintain gum health and to prevent the development of gingivitis or periodontitis. And even better, the scaling and polishing process also removes stains that build up over time, leaving you with a bright, natural smile. We also provide fluoride treatments to help desensitise the teeth, and to increase their protection from developing tooth decay.

The benefits of coming into our general dentistry clinic include discussing:

  • Potential oral diseases and prevention with knowledgeable professionals
  • Dental care advice that you can incorporate into your daily routine to build teeth-healthy habits
  • Cosmetic dental options like teeth whitening or straighter teeth through Invisalign clear aligners

Routine Dental Maintenance Process

If it’s your first time visiting our family dental clinic, our team may recommend a dental X-ray of your mouth or a digital 3D scan of your teeth. This will help us identify any cavities or tooth decay, as well as to perform a complete visual examination of any potentially impacted teeth.

Thereafter, our professional team of dentists will use an ultrasonic scaler to efficiently remove the build-up of plaque and calculus from the teeth. This is usually concentrated in the area right next to the gum line (you may experience some sensitivity during the procedure). Once completed, the dentist will then polish the teeth to remove any remaining stains to leave them feeling clean and smooth.

Our fluoride treatment involves applying a thin layer of concentrated fluoride gel directly to the upper and lower teeth. We then advise patients to keep this gel on the teeth for 30 minutes for enhanced absorption, and rinse prior to eating or drinking. This allows to the fluoride to soak into the teeth over a period of several minutes for maximum effectiveness. It is advised that you avoid eating or drinking for half an hour after the treatment.

By coming in for a dental check-up in Singapore twice a year at our clinic, our general dentists can identify possible problems before they become more serious issues.

Cost for Dental Check-Ups

Regular general dental check-ups and twice-yearly oral health maintenance sessions will help keep your teeth looking their best for years to come.

Dental teeth cleaning cost for a scale & polish will vary depending on the needs of each patient. The cost range is $85.60-$160.50. But for most patients who come into our clinic for appointments every 6 months, the routine treatment falls within $107.00 to $133.75 We encourage you to meet with our dentist for a consultation, and discussion of your particular needs and treatment costs.

General Dentistry Services

Dental Examinations

This is a critical part of the dental appointment.  At your first visit, and at subsequent check-ups, the dentist will carry out a thorough check of not just your oral health, but also the health of the peri-oral tissues.

Dental Fillings

Fillings are placed to restore teeth to function and appearance after trauma, caries removal or tooth wear. Fillings can be separated into two categories – silver coloured or tooth coloured. However we no longer place silver coloured fillings at our clinic.

Periodontal Treatment

Also known as non-surgical periodontal treatment or gum treatment, this is the treatment for people with periodontal or gum disease.  When you attend your regular check-up, our dentist will always check your gum health.

Regular Maintenance

This is the regular maintenance treatment that is normally sufficient for most people to maintain oral health. In addition to the dental check-up it involves scaling & polishing, fluoride treatment, and sometimes special tests depending on your specific needs.

Root Canal Treatments

When the nerve of a tooth dies, or becomes infected, you may experience pain and swelling. This can cause a severe toothache in extreme cases. Root canal treatment allows us to remove the infected or necrotic nerve while saving the tooth.

Tooth Extractions

Extraction is the treatment to take a tooth out under local anaesthetic. It is usually done because a tooth can no longer be restored, is too mobile, or for orthodontic treatment.
