What Are OneSmile Clear Aligners?
OneSmile clear aligners are tailor-made transparent trays made to fit over your teeth. Each tray is shaped to apply controlled pressure to selected teeth as part of a personalised treatment plan.
The OneSmile aligners are removable. Remove them for food, drinks other than plain water, brushing and flossing. Wear the aligners consistently for the prescribed number of hours to be most effective. Treatment may slow or stop if you don’t wear the trays as directed.
The OneSmile solution combines the prescribed aligners, treatment plan and any OneSmile Dental Monitoring features included in your package.

What Can OneSmile Treat?
Crowded or rotated teeth.
Gaps between teeth.
Protruding teeth.
Selected overbites, crossbites, open bites and other dental bite problems.
Tooth movement after previous orthodontic treatment.
The suitability depends on the cause and severity of the dental problem. Some complex tooth movements may need attachments, elastics, refinements or another appliance. A marked jaw discrepancy may require specialist assessment and, in some cases, jaw surgery.
Who May Be Suitable for OneSmile?
OneSmile may suit patients with good oral health who can remove and replace the trays safely and follow the daily wear schedule.
Active tooth decay or gum disease usually needs treatment first. Your dentist may recommend fixed braces, another clear aligner system or referral to an orthodontist, depending on their assessment.
OneSmile clear aligners may not be suitable when:
The required tooth or root movements are difficult to achieve predictably with removable trays.
The bite problem is mainly caused by the position or growth of the upper jaw or lower jaw.
The teeth need substantial movement after extractions.
The aligners are unlikely to be worn for the prescribed time.
The patient's oral hygiene or periodontal support is not adequate for orthodontic treatment.
- The process
How Does OneSmile Treatment Work?
The OneSmile Solution treatment process begins with an assessment, using a three-dimensional simulation. Your dental specialist cannot guarantee the final tooth position or treatment time because each individual’s biological response varies.
Some plans require interproximal reduction to create a small amount of space. Others may include a tooth extraction as part of orthodontic treatment. Your dentist will explain why they recommend any additional procedure.
How Remote Dental Monitoring is Used
Dental Monitoring uses a smartphone app and hardware to capture views of your teeth. The software compares submitted images with the treatment plan and can flag possible changes for the dental team to review. When provided, the Dental Monitoring Scan Box supports image capture.
Dental Monitoring is not a continuous 24-hour observation. The system can assess only submitted images, and automated notifications may not identify every problem. Your TEETH @ Tiong Bahru dentist will remain responsible for clinical decisions.
OneSmile remote monitoring may reduce some routine clinic visits, but it does not replace examinations, X-rays, procedures or urgent dental care. Attend every in-person appointment your dentist recommends.

Benefits and Limitations
Unlike traditional braces, OneSmile aligners do not use metal brackets. You can remove them for meals, brushing and flossing, so there are no bracket-related food restrictions. Remote scans may also provide information between planned visits when your treatment includes Dental Monitoring.
Aligners, unlike braces, depend on consistent patient wear. They can be lost, damaged or left out for too long. Attachments and elastics may be visible. Some movements are less predictable than others, and you may need additional aligners or a different appliance.
Fixed braces work continuously and do not depend on daily tray wear. Each approach has different strengths, whether clear aligners or braces.
Risks and Possible Complications
OneSmile clear aligners share the risks of other clear aligner treatment. These may include:
- Temporary pressure, tenderness or irritation
- Tooth decay, gum inflammation or tooth and gum damage if plaque, food debris or sugary liquids are trapped beneath the trays
- Gum recession or loss of gum and bone support in susceptible teeth
- Shortening of tooth roots
- Temporary changes in speech or saliva
- Tooth movement that differs from the digital plan
- A need for refinements, attachments, elastics, interproximal reduction or extractions
- Unwanted movement after treatment if retainers are not worn
Your individual risks depend on your oral health, roots, bite and treatment plan. Your dentist should explain the material risks before your treatment begins.
- After orthodontic treatment
What Happens after Treatment?
After treatment, your teeth can move back towards their original positions. Retainers will help hold them in their treated positions while the surrounding tissues adapt. Depending on the plan, your retainer may be removable, fixed behind the teeth or a combination of both. Long-term wear is often recommended. Your dentist will provide you with detailed instructions.
